Yesterday was a huge day for me. This year, I promised to support a lot of charitable organisations and when the opportunity to pose for the awareness of Cervical Cancer, I was all up for it.
Tosyn Bucknor, Yvonne"Vixen" Ekwere and I had a long day yesterday. The shoot was supposed to start at 11am and as usual I was late. The make up was done by Zaron and I arrived when the ladies were still getting theirs on. It was a long and tiring day but totally worth it, I cannot wait for the official pictures of the campaign to hit the streets of Lagos
It felt so good to work with people who share the same passion and drive that I have and I will like to support even more causes. "You can't do enough good, each day is an opportunity to bless another with kindness" - Unknown

So what is the point of this campaign, apart from taking photos? How u raising money for a research centre, donating equipments etc.? I really don't get it when naijas say they are supporting a charity when all the money is spent on photos and beautiful pictures. Imagine if u sent your time working at the hospitals of these sufferers, supporting a testing/diagnostic centre, going into the markets to encourage common naijas to get tested, donating your month's salary to get more people tested or even paying for pampering or make up sessions for people with cancer to put a smile on their faces for just dayal cancer or donate your month's salary.

ReplyDeleteHow are you so sure they are not doing anything monetary wise. Are you with them 24/7? One of the main things when it comes to Charities is raising awareness so that people get checked. It's not only about raising/donating money. You have to create awareness along with raising money. I am pretty sure you will identify yourself as a Christian or a Muslim but you seem to enjoy thrashing other peoples good deeds. You are the same ones that will go to church and be raising your "not so holy hand" to God when all you have done through out the week is thrash one of his own. Is this the kind of example you are setting for your kids or kids to be: that it is OK to bash and drag other people down by calling them names. For You: What exactly have you done to bring awareness to Cancer or any terminal disease. You sit behind your computer and all you know how to do best is thrash other people. How about you spending that time to support a cause. I am pretty sure If Toke wasn't in the picture you wouldn't have said anything you ignoramus one. Whatever treatment, attack and name calling you have done to this Young Lady Toke the same thing will be done to you, your children and your generations to come. Whatever you sow you would reap 100 folds be it good or bad.

Toke is out there doing her best with what she's got, and the opportunity at her disposal, so let's not diss her or gerrout of this blog; besides, this blog is for her fans. On the other hand, Toks honey the critics are also right in a way, just drop all this photoshoots and photographers that want to make use of your pretty face to sell themselves. You have an opportunity that most people only dream about, I will suggest you come out of following this fake-ards and go into the byways of Lagos and country side of Nigeria, and find a little girl or boy to give scholarship to or an elderly woman/man to actually support. You can take pictures doing it if you like with your hands dirty, not looking fabulously with make-up and taking pictures telling people your are doing charity, it's annoying. We know you are a nice lady and we love you for it, but I seriously want to believe that your PR person should be dissed she is making you attract a lot of negative energy. Keep up being who you are Toke honey, we love you!
ReplyDeleteLeya, don't speak to people like that. You can get your point across without being down right bitchy. I am anony 1 and trust be a do a 1000 things for charity minus fancy photos. I forfeit my 500pounds daily income sometimes to volunteer and mentor disadvantaged teenagers, a spend time holing a bucket for change at cinemas to help a children hospice (places where terminally ill children go to die), I volunteer as a school governor helping local primary school in my area and yet, my child attends a private school. I gather toys from friends and families and send to children's homes in Lagos (Ytube has the evidence) So, pls don't swear at people. The points above are very valid. Toke can do much better and she must do better. Criticism is not attacking Toke. It is simply stating the obvious in this case. Again, I am anony1 above and I did not say anything derogatory about Toke.
ReplyDeleteLet me start by saying that I applaud you for your volunteer work. You are doing an amazing job. However, my comment was not for you. I wasn't swearing or cursing anybody. All I said was whatever you sow you would reap 100 folds. Whatever you do to other people and how you treat them be it good or bad will be done to you and your children. That is all I said. If JoJo knows her actions are wrong then she wouldn't be going around calling people all sort of names in the name of constructive criticism. This is no cursing, that is how life works. You don't sow apple and reap orange.you can't have someone sowing seeds of hatred and expect to reap kindness.All of a sudden I am the bitchy and wrong one.You surely have a selective reading issue. It's OK for JoJo to go around calling Toke a "Stupid Rat", 'fake ass wannabe' and all kinds of names like she does all the time-- Really, is this constructive criticism you are referring to. The law of sowing and reaping is also in the Bible (Galatians 6 6-18) and Quran (Surat Ya-Sin, 11,12; Surat Ya-Sin, 54) so what I said is nothing out of the blue or a curse. Blessings!
DeleteI honestly don't know what toke has done to deserve so much bashing from so many quarters. Honestly she has her weaknesses however extreme we are all guilty too. But she is doing something worthy to be applauded for. Let's live life without hating others. Good work girls.
